The following is a press release from the Hattiesburg Impact:
New Augusta's annual “Lighting of the Luminaries” and Christmas program will take place Dec. 21, in downtown New Augusta. Luminaries will be lit throughout the town beginning at approximately 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., a Christmas program will take place at three churches located in downtown New Augusta beginning with First Baptist Church of New Augusta. Immediately following will be a program at New Augusta United Methodist Church and then New Augusta Presbyterian Church.
This year, an event will take place on the lawn of the Perry County Courthouse following the church programs. Local businesses will be providing refreshments for people to enjoy while listening to music performed by talented people and groups from throughout the area. Raffle tickets will also be on sell to win prizes announced throughout the evening donated by local businesses. All proceeds from the raffle will go towards decorating and events in the community in the upcoming year.
Everyone from Perry County and surrounding areas are invited to attend and be a part of the festivities.
